Kitchen Crew Off- School Holiday Helper Camp
Two-Day Camp for Ages 6–10
Over two hands-on days, Kitchen Crew will cook through comforting, holiday-ready recipes while building the practical skills that make them more confident helpers at home. From shaping meatballs and making gravy to mixing roll dough, preparing stovetop macaroni and cheese, and baking mini apple pies, students will create a full collection of dishes they can be proud to share.
Whether they are asked to stir, roll, measure, set the table, or even make their own dish to bring to the Thanksgiving table, this camp gives young cooks real kitchen skills they can use during the holiday season—and well beyond it. They’ll leave better prepared to take on meaningful jobs alongside the adults in their own kitchens.
And because food is even better when it is shared, Kitchen Crew will enjoy their own Friendsgiving-style celebrations at the Southernish studio, sitting down together to enjoy the meals they helped create.
Camp Schedule
Day 1 — Turkey Meatballs, Gravy & Mashed Potatoes
Students will prepare turkey meatballs, make gravy, and cook mashed potatoes. They’ll also mix an overnight dough for fresh rolls to bake on Day 2, then gather for their own Friendsgiving-style meal at the studio.
Day 2 — Mac & Cheese, Mini Apple Pies & Fresh-Baked Rolls
Kitchen Crew will make stovetop macaroni and cheese with sausage and broccoli, prepare mini apple pies with a streusel topping, and bake the rolls they began the day before for a second celebratory feast.
Registration includes both camp days.
What to Expect:
- This is a drop-off cooking camp for children ages 6–10.
- A parent or guardian age 18 or older must accompany their child into the studio at arrival on Day 1 to complete a participation waiver.
- No previous cooking experience is required.
- Students will sit down and enjoy the food they prepare during class. Depending on recipes and portions, they may also bring home leftovers to share.
- Students may work individually, with a partner, or in small groups depending on the recipe and technique.
- As they grow more confident and independent in the kitchen, students may help clear and tidy their workstations and wash select tools as time allows. A formal cleanup period is not built into the class schedule.
- Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended, and long hair should be tied back before class.
Class Timing
Each camp day is scheduled for approximately two hours, though every class is a little different. Young cooks work at different speeds, and dough resting, shaping, or cooking times may occasionally mean we finish a little sooner or run slightly past the scheduled end time.
We’ll always do our best to stay on schedule while giving students enough time to learn, cook, and enjoy what they’ve prepared.
Dietary Restrictions & Allergens
- This menu contains wheat/gluten, dairy, eggs, turkey, and pork. It is not suitable for vegetarian guests.
- Some recipes may be adaptable for certain dietary restrictions or food allergies, but not all accommodations are possible.
- Our kitchen, equipment, and workspaces are shared. Southernish is not a certified allergen-safe or gluten-free environment.
- Please contact us before registering if your child has food allergies or dietary restrictions so we can determine whether this camp can safely accommodate their needs.
A Few Quick Notes
